Obituary

Virginia Marie Noel was born August 19, 1937, in Atoka, Oklahoma to Henry and Orva (Harris)Noel. She passed from this life, surrounded by family at her home on the family ranch, on August 25, 2023, in Sobol, Oklahoma, at the age of 86.

Virginia was a little girl when her father, a cattle rancher, moved to Sobol. She loved every part of ranch life. She attended school at Rattan and graduated in 1956. On May 18, 1956, Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Noel Gibson. She and Noel made their home on the family ranch in Sobol, OK and were active members of the Sobol Baptist Church.

They became a family when their daughter, LaDonna, was born on March 29, 1968. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. Whether Noel needed her to go check on a cow and calf down in the pasture or her daughter simply needed "red slush" for a party at school she was always willing. She loved to sew, quilt, and embroidery. She love to give her beautiful creations to one of the family. Gin loved to be outdoors. In the summer, you would often see her mowing or tending to her plants and flowers. She also loved her westerns and there probably isn't one she hadn't seen. One of her other favorite pastimes included going and watching a basketball game, at any level.

Virginia went by many names, Gin, Aunt Gin, Mama, and Meme. She always welcomed each new addition to the family. She spent lots of hours rocking all the new babies for four generations. She learned to be an Aunt with Howard, Donna, Terry, Mike, Lanny, David, Skip, Brad, Bradley Wayne and Aimee. Then along came the next generation...Donnie, Valerie, Wade, Lane, Terinia, Dan, Tamee, and
Aaron. Then came more precious nieces and nephews to love...Login, Lyndi, Neely, Nate, Luke, Aarvi, Olivia, Clancy, Aandi, Layker, Pake, Langstyn, and Ledger. Gin never missed a beat as the family continued to grow and she became the beloved "Meme" to Whitney, Tiffaney, Joshua, Mark, River, and Wilder. From birth to graduation to marriage she was an inspiration to each one. Whether the kids wanted to go fishing or have a tea party she was happy to go or play along. She loved her family dearly and was always delighted when they would drop in to visit.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years: Noel Gibson; her parents: Henry and Orva Noel; her sister: Dortha Ann Clay; her brother: Harrison Noel; and her great niece: Tamee Ann Brown.

She is survived by her daughter: LaDonna Gibson; her three grandchildren: Cassie Ram, Jeffery Coberley, and Landon Coberley; one great-grandchild: Aubrey Coberley; her sister: Sara Noel; and several special nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
