Wayland McMahan Obituary

Wayland McMahan was born in Jumbo, OK on January 8, 1927 to Ed and Fannie (Anderson) McMahan. He was reunited with his beloved wife Martha on January 11, 2022 at the age of 95.

Wayland married Martha Maxey on June 1, 1948 in Antlers, OK. They started their life in Antlers, then moved to McAlester, then to Oklahoma City where they lived for thirteen years. In 1969 Wayland and Martha moved back to Miller, OK, where they made their home. Together they enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage. Wayland was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Wayland was chairman of the Board of Directors for the Darwin Fire Department and has held that position for the last 20 years until his passing. He also served on the Darwin Cemetery board and the Moyers Public School Board for many years, serving as President and multiple other positions. He was a member of Nail Benders and volunteered his talents to build or repair needy churches or projects.

Wayland volunteered a huge amount of his life to serving the Lord. People will never know this side of Heaven, just how much he inspired and supported others.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Martha McMahan; daughter: Barbara Laverne McMahan; parents: Ed and Fannie McMahan; brother: Bobby McMahan; sisters-in-law: Wanda McMahan and Linda McMahan; brothers-in-law: Leroy Dyke and Boyce Couch; and nephew: Danny Paul Davis.

Wayland is survived by his brothers: Billy J. McMahan and wife Cecelia and Jack P. McMahan and wife Barbara; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of loving friends.

Services for Wayland will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2021 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel, with Brother Otis Cayton officiating. Interment will follow at Darwin Community Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers include: Jacob Troy, Chris McMahan, Charlie Baeza, Mike Davis, Steve Allgood, Cecil Walker, Jeff Dyke, and Phillip Maxey.
