Terry Burch

Terry Burch

Funeral Director and Embalmer

Terry Burch was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in Casper, Wyoming. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1992-2000. Terry served as a Combat Medical Specialist with the 1/179 Infantry Battalion in Stillwater, Oklahoma and was assigned to Bravo Company out of Alva, Oklahoma in order to provide medical services for them. During his service in the U.S. Army Reserves he moved to Oklahoma to pursue a degree in Mortuary Science.

He worked as an apprentice, prior to college, at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory in Casper, Wyoming. After graduating from the University Of Central Oklahoma, he worked for Brown-Sisson Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma and from there had the opportunity to work at various funeral homes around the state to build his experience including Shain Family Funeral Services. Mr. Burch has also had the opportunity to assist with various disasters such as the May 1999 tornadoes and Hurricane Katrina. 

Terry currently has about 23 years experience in funeral service. He holds a degree not only in Funeral Science and criminology, but also is certified as a firefighter/EMT and holds numerous certificates from eye enucleating to mass casualty disaster training. He has also served on many boards such as Oklahoma SIDS Alliance where he started “A Gift From The Heart”, which is a program to help families with the financial burden of buying monuments for children, to various Lion’s Clubs and crime stopper programs. Currently he is a member of the Antlers Fire/EMS where he holds the position of Assistant Chief and works as a firefighter/EMT in his spare time.

He is the past governor for District VI of the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association and is currently on the Pushmataha County Chamber Board. Terry also works as a part-time instructor for Kiamichi Technology Center and Oklahoma State University Fire Service Training where he teaches EMR, EMT, BLS, Wilderness Search and Rescue, Rope Rescue and any other rescue course that is requested. Terry is currently happily married to Jackie Burch and has been blessed with his children, Mathew and wife Maria, Logan and wife Caitlin and the youngest, Jasmine. He also has five wonderful grandchildren, Carter, Logan, Lucas, Emmet and Elion. Terry spends his time away from work scuba diving and camping.

Jackie Burch was born and raised in Antlers, Oklahoma. She is the youngest of three children.  She went to school and graduated from Antlers High School.  After graduation she attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and studied general courses along with medical terminology classes from OSU, Okmulgee. At this time she also attended Kiamichi Technology Center in Hugo, Oklahoma and received her Registered Phlebotomy Certificate.  She has worked at the local hospital and clinic as a phlebotomist over the past ten years, and still currently helps out at the hospital when needed.

She started to work at Mills and Coffey Funeral Home (Shain Family Funeral Services) in 2010 as a funeral assistant and apprentice after Brent Shain gave her the first embalming book she ever read. In 2013 she moved locations to work for the Shain Family in Hugo, Oklahoma. While there she worked as a funeral assistant at Mt. Olive Funeral Home, Prater-Lampton Funeral Home, and SPS Crematorium.  Jackie also attended cremation classes at Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and received her Certified Crematory Arranger Certificate and Certified Crematory Operator Certificate.

 Currently, she is attending American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service as a fulltime mortuary student. She is also the office manager and serves as secretary of our board at Serenity Funeral Service. Jackie also works for Antlers Fire/EMS as a volunteer firefighter/EMR. She is also on the technical rescue team in Pushmataha County and holds many other certifications such as Hazmat, Rope Rescue, various FEMA certifications, Wilderness Search and Rescue, and teaches Basic Life Support. Jackie has been a member of Lions Club of Hugo, Oklahoma and is currently on the  Pushmataha County Chamber of Commerce.  She is also active with the Bearcat PTO along with helping the community with various projects.

Jackie is currently happily married to Terry Burch, and is blessed with three children. Mathew and wife Maria, Logan and wife Caitlin and the youngest, Jasmine. She also has five wonderful grandchildren, Carter, Logan, Lucas, Emmet and Elion. Jackie spends her time away from work with her family, usually camping or riding their ranger in the mountains.
